The blue dot's I've seen (very few) didn't make the tail lamp particularlly different just added a sort of eye teasing violet that was difficult to focus on.
Tail lamp reflectors and lenses are built differently now. The SSR's lenses are very transparent compared to the lenses of oh say a 64 Falcon (El Camino). So I don't expect the bulbs are as bright.
