Yeah, it's an easy and quick fix.

Took three days for my dealer to get the new generator in, and as mentioned, it has a clutch to prevent the squealing. You can tell it's different because the new part has a black plastic cover in the center of the pulley.

Coming from the Ford modular 4.6 DOHC (Cobra, Marauder), they had a clutched alternator as well.

IIRC, Freezer has pointed out there is no real operational problem with the chirp or squeal, but it drove me nuts. And they don't have any problem covering this under warrantee, so it's a no brainer, imo, if you are bugged by the noise.
