Better to be safe than sorry as pulling a fuse is easy.
Just wanted to post the official warning from Peripheral Electronics about using the GMCO and some of their other products.

I did use the Peripheral GMCO in order to retain door chime and roof up/down chime functions. I will be pulling the radio fuse if/when messing with the Class 2 interface..

At a minimum verify that you have a newer version of the devices listed below if you used one.

Link to Peripheral Electronics Warning Bulletin:
http://peripheralelectronics.com/web...gm_reflash.pdf

IMPORTANT BULLETIN:
GM “Re-Flash” Interference with Aftermarket Class-2 Interfacing Products

Affected Product:
o GMAH24 (ver 1.1.11 or lower) Used for replacing factory radio
o GMAH24B (ver 1.3.11 or lower) Used for replacing factory radio
o GMCO (ver 1.2.4 or lower) Used for replacing factory radio
o PXGM24 (ver 1.1.5 or lower) Auxiliary Input used with factory radio

Potential Problem:
If a GM Technician attempts to “Re-Flash” or reprogram a vehicle’s brain (BCM / PCM) while one of the above mentioned interface devices are installed, it may interfere with the Re-Flash procedure possibly rendering the vehicle inoperable. A similar problem exists when using a “Superchip” or other aftermarket performance “programmers” {Diablo Predator, HP Tuner Software, Westers Garage GMT software...etc}.

Re-Flashing is the process by which technicians replace a vehicle’s computer (PCM/ECM/BCM) firmware through the Class-2 databus. This is a very critical procedure and must be executed without interruption.

Preventive Precaution During Re-Flash:
For products mentioned in this bulletin remove power by pulling the radio fuse in the vehicle fuse block or by unplugging the 24 pin connector, behind the radio. Safeguard against vehicle brain corruption during re-flash by disconnecting power to, or temporarily disconnecting any aftermarket data product from car. All current stock has been re-designed to prevent re-flash complications. All devices with version numbers higher than those listed above work seamlessly. However, the fuse-pulling precaution is always recommended.

Special Note for GM Technicians:
If the above mentioned precautions are not followed, particularly with the “older” versions mentioned, the vehicle’s ECM may become inoperative after attempting to program or re-flash new firmware using the TECH2 tool. If this situation occurs, replacement of the scammed vehicle components may be the only solution, which will result in unnecessary costs to you and the owner of the vehicle.

**Please follow these precautions **
