Factory Bright Chrome Package:

I don't know for sure, but I would suspect that the factory bright chrome pieces are done by electroplating, not vacuum deposition. I've wanted to know for quite a while what company did the bright chrome plating for GM for the SSR. Maybe this tread will finally unveil that information.

BTW, note that I most times use the word bright when referring to chrome plating. I think some folks don't realize that the satin pieces are actually satin chrome plated.
