I've ridden The Tail dozens of times in the last few years on different Harley's - my current 03 VROD and my Dad's 01 Road King. A friend always rides his Kawasaki Ninja 600 ZXR (crotch rocket) and we always have fun. He's gone very quickly because we can't corner like he can if we tried. A year ago we happened to be out there when a Corvette club was running the dragon and we saw everything from stock C5's to supercharged Z06's and belive me they were having fun! Some day I want to get my 03 modified Cobra out there. The SSR would be OK but I'd want a lot better brakes before I pushed it on the tail - 311 curves in 18 miles and you need awesome brakes. I fade my VROD brakes each time afgter about 3/4 of the way through. Just depends on how hard you push it.

Regardless, it would be fun and worth the trip. Trust me, you have never been on a road like it before. Plus, many many hundreds of miles of other excellent roads in the area that are perfect for a mcycle or with the SSR and the top down - lots of great sweeping curves, hills and excellent scenery.

Try it and enjoy but watch it on the weekends because the motorcycles come out in droves and it really is a road for them. Just let them go by with a wave and keep to your side of the road.
