I won't criticize you. I bought a color laser printer last week at Staples. It weighed about 67 pounds and the box was too tall for the SSR bed cover to close. Just drove it home with the bed cover up in the air. Now if had to transport a refrigerator, I agree...you should probably remove the bed cover.
