Hygroscopic - yes but so far, that has not been our issue. Long term it could be but regular changes will eliminate that issue.

Good enough for me - it stays vented. I may have to drill some small holes in the polished aluminum cap, then epoxy a plastic ring around the outside to give me some surface area to epoxy the polished cap on.
