mods

Well, the kit was not designed for the SSR, and the dealer website said the one I have is the best choice for modifying to fit. I have checked with many major door kit manufacturers, and dealers, and not one of them knows who might have a kit specific for the SSR, so the mods were necassary to accomodate this truck. That being said, I totally redesigned and chopped and rebuilt the kit to get as close as possible to fit the SSR. The indexing windows were no problem, but the fenders are very close to the inner section of the body, so the swivel outward is very restricted. In order to make this work, the original swing arm had to be removed, and a new one fabbed up in a shape that fits the area behind the fender. When I was trying to bend the 1/2 inch steel to the shape I needed, the whole hinge assembly kinda just exploded. I can repair it, but after over 50 man hours of redesigning, cutting, welding, and rebuilding, I decided to just put the project on hold til fall, when I wont want to drive it too much, and have more time to play with it. Dont be mistaken, the kit is a high quality kit made up of 1/2 inch hardened steel, but I used a 10 ton press to bend the metal, and applied just little too much pressure. If anyone has questions about the process, and wants more details, feel free to get in touch anytime. Hope to see one soon, if not, I will be back on the project this fall, and IT WILL be done by next summer. Thanks to everyone who hung on to see it. Sorry to disappoint. See you on the road.
