It appears that there is a congentinal clutch problem with the '05 SSR's. I had the same problem with my clutch one hour after I took delivery. The clutch pedal did not return after use.
First the dealer replaced both the master and slave cylinders. That did not resolve the problem. Then they replaced the clutch disk, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. That did not resolve the problem.
The local service manager enlisted the help of Chevrolet technical support. He consulted with first, second and third level tech support (all by telephone).
When they determined they still didn't have a clue as to what was causing the problem, I took the issue to the general manager of the dealership. Without hesitation, he took that SSR back (actually it was already in their shop) and replaced it with another one exactly like the first (including all options).
Two months and 400 miles later, the second SSR has been flawless. After hearing the other tails of woe on this site, I consider myself very fortunate. I just completed my Sales and Delivery Satisfaction Survey. I can honestly report that I was "Completely Satisfied" in all catagories.
I know we all desperately want to be happy with our choice of vehicles. I hope that Chevy can resolve these clutch situations for everyone else so that we all can be "Completely Satisfied".
