The nut you have IS a locking type. It also has an integral washer, if I remember correctly. The locking mechanism is found in the slightly compressed sides of the nut. Look closely at it and you will see that the threaded part is not really round. It is smooshed a little from two sides. This will cause just the right amount of binding on the threads of the connection link.

If you want to do the belt and suspenders trick, you can put a little locktite on the threads before you attach it. It's not necessary, but works fine.

If the parts guy has an alternate number that has the integral washer and the locking feature, go for it. Just be sure to torque it properly.
