If you are into canoeing, have you ever tried gunnel bobbing? I had to shoew the guys in Fairfield Harbor, NC when I was there a few (many) years ago. They rent canoes but had never seen anyone make one go by standing on the gunnels and bouncing it up and down. It is nice to know if you lose your paddle. you do tend to get wet while learning.
