Jersey Cruise/SSR-B-Q. Sept. 1-2, 2007 in Toms River

Every Labor Day Weekend I put together a little B-B-Q with live entertainment, volleyball, horseshoes, and more fun filled stuff at the Crosscheck Entertainment Complex (my house).

This year, I would like to extend an invitation to all fanatics that would like to attend!

Some Details:

**Sunday, Sept. 2nd, from 1:00pm 'til whenever. You are more than welcome to show up early.

The entertainment will consist of a very versatile acoustic duo, but be forewarned...there will also be a metal band playing (don't worry, you can easily get out of harm's way). For those of you wondering if my band will be playing, I'm not sure. If we do, it will only be a few songs because we've been slacking on the rehearsals lately. But, if your nice to me, I may play some acoustic stuff.

I'll supply the basics...burgers, dogs, chips, water, soda and stuff. I'll also have a couple barrels of beer. Usually 'Otter Creek's Stovepipe Porter.' If you would like something else to drink or eat, feel free to bring it.

**Saturday, Sept. 1st is Cruisin' day! There will be 2 cruises...a long day cruise (We'll meet at 11:00 for snacks at my house, then depart at noon), and a short night cruise at about 8:00 for Ice Cream and to the Seaside Boardwalk. Ice cream will hopefully be at 'The Music Man' (www.njmusicman.com). I'll have to see if they can do something for parking, because it's kinda rough to park over there. The evening cruise is on hold. We'll discuss it at dinner. If anyone not attending the day cruise wants to do the night one, just give me a call...I'll go with 1 or 100 fanatics.

The day cruise is all set up. It consists of a total of about 3 hours 11 minutes of driving (not including stops). There will be two scenic leg stretch stops before dinner at Covello's Italian and Seafood Restaurant. We'll then end up right back where we started (at about 6 or 7 o'clock).

The first scenic stop will be Lake Topanemus in Freehold. See pix in lower post.

The second scenic stop will be Deep Cut Gardens in Middletown. This is where Nancy and I went for our wedding photos. Lots of nice gardeny, flowery, tree..ee, stuff.

IMPORTANT: If you plan on attending dinner at Covello's, please let me know before Monday, August 27th. I need to call them with a head count so they're ready for us on Saturday. We should be arriving there between 4:00 and 4:30 if you plan on bypassing the cruise, but would like to join us for dinner. Entrees range from around $10-$30 with the majority being around $14-$17. There's lots of yummy Italian and Seafood to choose from. Obviously, I don't know what you'll be in the mood for, but I wanted to give you a slight idea of what you may spend. With tax, tip, and drinks, you could probably get away with about $25-$30 per head. If you go for the lobster/clams + appitizer + dessert + cappuccino, etc... you can easily be looking at $50 or more.

If you would like to see a rough version of the cruise, you can look at it here. I now have it finalized, but this is about the best I can do on Yahoo maps for now. http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=m&q20=108...40.46445&mag=1
I had to put in a lot of stops so I could get the route I wanted, but don't worry, we're not actually stopping at all of them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have room for a few traveling fanatics to take up residence here (for a couple days), and i can check around for a decent nearby hotel if anyone wants. *update* It looks like hotels in the area are about $180 and up per night (Labor Day Weekend...Shore area), so be prepared. If you're looking to spend a night or two at an area hotel, contact me so I can get an idea of what yoos want to spend and how far away from the festivities will be acceptable for you.

Please reply here or PM me if you can make it....also, when you would like to arrive and depart, so I can get accommodations figured out.

I'll update the thread as more info comes in.
