Focks, a supercharged or turbo charged engine tends to run lean with all the additional airflow created by the forced induction. A higher volume of fuel is required to richen or "fatten" up the fuel to air ratio and prevent starvation that will burn pistons and valves if left unchecked. I think it would be more of an engine safety issue than one of efficiency. Fuel consumption would be "on demand" so I wouldn't think MPG would be affected unless you are running at WOT. Some of our more technical members may have a better answer for this.
