That "sweet" new smell went away for me after driving my SSR for few days. So you should be fine as well, and there is really no need to have the exhaust system all welded up, as my mufller shop did not do that to my system. The fit up was fine as is.

Of course, until the exhaust system smell goes away, to combat it, you could always eat more beans. The lesser of two evils, right?
