Now I can remember the old Italians going for mushrooms and bringing them back. They were the wild ones,that only grew in hardwood tree's, and none of them would ever tell anyone where they were getting them. Then Noni ( grandmother ) would boil them with a silver nickle, if the nickle turn'd black they were no good to eat. God I miss some of the old ways, those days are gone for ever.
