Am I he only one who remembers more than a few years ago in the U.S, Oil wells that pumped less than 10 barrels per day were ordered to be plugged.

Seems like this was planned some time ago.

I don't think the U.S. has enough refineries to handle a domestic supply. I don't believe anyone is interested, as they would become yet another military target.
