I replace my automotive batteries about every 3-4 years. I have been burnt a few times out on the road and know it can be a real PITA. Not only can the cells wear out over time but they can short circuit as well with no warning. Hot weather is harder on them, since you are down south, do stop and go driving and actuate the top often I would say 3-4 years would be a good time to replace depending on what type of battery you replace it with.
Good luck
PS - I PM'd you twice but never heard back from your earlier PM to me, hope you received my replies
