Trailer Hitch

Color my SSR black, and me stupid. I didn't get an owners manual with my 2006 but I needed a trailer hitch so I got one off of EBay... with the knob, and the keys and all that good stuff.

But I'm flipped if I can get it to install correctly. I put it into the receiver, turn the knob, it goes up to the point where it seems to be 1/2" short of all the way (the little triangles on the sides aren't meshed) and i can't get it to go any farther.... no amount of tugging or pulling the lever on the back, the knob on the side, the key in the lock will make it go in.

What am I doing wrong?
