Just as a practical issue: I do strongly prefer the look of an SSR withOUT the running boards, but the boards do serve an important function: they greatly reduce paint pitting on the rear fenders due to road debris being picked up and shot back by the front tires.

Those who remove them might want to watch to see what happens over time. If the roads in your area are not veryclean, this could be a frustrating problem.
