Coming home from the office (windows and top down) I needed to reach in my pocket for change (toll) which gets my feet far under the dash (important for the story). When getting out of that position if felt like my shoestring was caught on a pedal (it has happened before) no big deal. Within seconds the radio CD player started to skip and went dead. All the dash lights came on and the Gauges dropped to zero. Gas, Oil, Engine Temperature, Battery, Tongue, and Outside Temperature are all dead. The car did not stop running! I made it home to find that I could not roll up the windows, or put the top up. The only button on the console working is the Power Locks but they do not work through the remote. I don't know it shoestring thing was coincidence or not but I thought I’d start there.
A check of fuses shows nothing blown. A quick trip to the local (non chevy) mechanic went straight to the alternator. Not my thought but what do I know. SO now with the new alternator the problem still exists. For the record the alternator was free. He’s a good guy, he didn't fix the problem. Reading the post here the though seems to lean to the ignition switch but unlike most of the poster's I have had no lost of power. Actually after the no infamous alternator incident I made my afternoon errands in the SSR did about 100 miles no problems then back in the garage ( it could rain ) I'm scheduling the trip to the dealer today but I'd like some input. Thanks for reading the rather lengthy input.

The dealer should be able to find which code it's throwing. It's probably something minor.
