My question is whether I should go with the stock setup of 19s up front and 20s in the rear, or go to 20s on both front and rear. I wouldn't expect the 20x10s to fit on the front, but if they did, could a pair of rear tires be used up front? If not, would I use 8.5x20s for the front?
If I were not upsizing to 20"/22" as you appear not to be doing, then I would stay with the 19"/20" stock setup. It gives the SSR the raked look that I feel it needs. True, you can get a raked look with a 20"/20" setup by going with rear tires with taller sidewalls. But to me the effect is not the same or as dramatic looking. Obviously the downside to being staggered, 19"/20" or 20"/22", is you can't rotate the tires. But heck, who cares about being practical with an SSR.....right?

Wheels are always a totally personal thing. But if it was me, I would not rule out looking at the custom wheels you are considering in a 20"/22" setup if they are available. I love mine in that setup!
