help..do you know transmissions?
So I took my SSR to a transmission place because it was starting to slip.
The guy put in a corvette servo, tightened the bands, and increased the pressure.
When I first drove it, I hit the gas the RPMs went all the way to red line, the rev limiter kicked in, it shifted to 2nd and gave me quite a kick into second....Well I couldn't drive it like that, so I took it back. He backed off the pressure some. It still did the same thing. So I took my Diablo programmer (I've had the diablo 97 octane tune in for 4 years now), and told it to put the original tune back in. That helped a lot. I put the 97 octane tune back in and still don't have the redlining problem, but
Now I hit the gas, it gets close to redlining, shifts to 2nd with a hard kick.....but the rpms remain at 3000 for a second or two then jump to 3400 and the truck takes off again. This guy, who's been doing transmissions for over 30 years, says he's never seen anything like it. He sent me down the street to another mechanic to get his opinion. That guy says he thinks that there might be some kind of fuel restriction kicking in, but it would take him a while to figure out what the problem might actually be.
I'm thinking about taking it back to the dealer and getting the computers flashed again, so that I know I'm starting from scratch, but I wanted to ask if anyone had any ideas what happened...why did this easy transmission work change, apparently, the programming? And does it seem like that it is actually just a programming issue?
I have been communicating with Greg and Bill, but haven't found an answer yet.
