Hell... 8 hrs, that CRAZY!!!!!!
8 hrs does seem a little high unless that includes time for cofffee/lunch/incoming phone calls, etc...
Go to a couple of other shops and see what they'll quote you. Do it in person, not over the phone. Chance is they don't know what an SSR is.
One side note, you might as well install dynamat on the floor before the new carpet put in.
Maybe it time for another So Calif Tech Session.
