I'm with you, wouldn't drive my SSR on any pass road.
Did drive Owl Creek once in a rented Pontiac Bonneville. No problem, Stopped at the summit for lunch, sat on the rock and watched the Aspen leaves flutter, then drove down the other side and went on into Crested Butte.
