Welcome to the forum. Sorry you had to join on a sour note....
I don't have a direct answer to offer, but am sure one of the tranny experts will be chiming in shortly on this.
Joel is quite right about the (POS) ignition switch. There is a plastic module that attaches to the bottom of the switch mechanism that has been the root cause of a LOT of strange stuff. In our trucks (and a lot of other GM vehicles), that module is part of the digital network in the computer system. Last year, GM came out with a new one, P/N 15242754.
