MY SOLUTION AFTER HAVING A FLAT ON SATURDAY IN THE BOONIES-A TOW TRUCK RIDE TO A CLOSED CHEV DEALER WAS FREE-BUT $250.00 TO GET HOME FOR REPAIR/REPLACEMENT ON MONDAY....
LOCATED A FULL SIZE 4" TEMPORARY SPARE BY GOODYEAR--USED A STOCK STEEL WHEEL (TRAILBLAZER 17")--HAD TO CUT IT IN HALF AND WELD TOGETHER TO MAKE IT 4"" WIDE TO ACCOMODATE THE TIRE....THIS SET-UP IS JUST 1/4 " SHORTER THAN THE REAR TIRE-WORKS WELL ON FRONT AND BACK-NO OFFSET PROBLEM....RELOCATED THE BATTERY TO THE OUTSIDE FRAME AREA UNDER THE R REAR....USED THE TRAILBLAZER SPARE TIRE DROP SYSTEM-(SOME INTERNAL MOD REQUIRED)--NO CONTACT WITH EXHAUST-NO INSULATION REQUIRED....BEST THING IS THERE IS NO VISABLE TIRE SHOWING FROM THE REAR OF THE TRUCK....DID LOSE USE OF TRAILER HITCH ASSEMBLY-BUT NEVER INTENDED TO HAUL ANYTHING ANYWAY.....IN RETROSPECT WE COULD HAVE AVOIDED THIS RESULT AND CAN REVERSE THE OUTCOME IF I CHANGE MY MIND....ALSO PURCHASED THE POWER JACK BECAUSE I AM OLD....AFTER LOTS OF RESEARCH WE COULD NOT FIND A 4" WHEEL WITH PROPER 6 BOLT PATTERN-THEREFORE TO REPRODUCE WHAT WE DID IS WAY TO TIME CONSUMING AND COSTLY.....FLIRTED WITH THE CHINA CONNECTION FOR WHEEL PRODUCTION--AGAIN WAY TO COSTLY --I AM TOLD $6-8000 JUST TO GET THE PROTOTYPE READY--ADD PRODUCTION AND SHIPPING COSTS AND SUCH AN EFFORT WOULD NOT BE COST EFFECTIVE....CHUCKSTR.
