Yes the speedo along with the engine rpm are used to control the shifting of the trans. The ECM uses the rpm signal for trans input speed and the speedo for trans output speed. So with ether acting up it will effect trans shifting.

Thanks Blue, I knew someone would know. It sure made a difference for me, I wonder now if the speedo issue caused the tranny problems in the first place, oh well, it's all good now!
