The term "looser" in this context refers to a higher stall speed, which means under acceleration the converter will allow the engine to reach a higher rpm quicker enabling the vehicle to accelerate faster from a rest. Bang for the buck, a high stall converter is hard to beat for appreciable gains in performance.
