I agree definitely on the gears, tune, and converter to help launch the truck. To gain mid and high end power the 5.3 really needs a cam change, though you have to be careful of the grind. Then if it was me, I'd have a 150 hp nitrous oxide system on a simple momentary switch to bring in as the need arose. For not a lot of $ you'd have a very formidable street combo!
