I use the Ceramic Sponge found at Home Depot/Lowe's. 2 + inches thick by 7 + inches long.
I cut it in my bandsaw to 4" X 6" and then in half, gives you two pcs 4X6X1 foam pad.

I use clear silicone on one side of the foam pad, stick it to the outer wall and replace the vent.

Cost $1.96 for Foam - $2.96 for Silicone (You can do about ten pads)

Foam always stays flexable,

A lot less than $40 for GM pad with double sided tape.

Done about 20 R's in Florida this way and it has worked well.

Picture
1. Mark ceramic sponge for size
2. Cut and then cut in half
3. Two halves
4. How it will fit together in vents
5. Clean outside wall with cleaner so silicone will stick well.
