What would really dress up the check book cover even more would be if you would do a round Mexican laced edge all around. It's labor intensive but would be way nicer than the straight stitches.
I don't use many checks either in this day and age but... I do have custom made SSR photo checks I had printed.

The inlay of flames was way too time consuming and still didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. If only I had a laser to cut the two pieces then they would fit precisely but then you'd have to pay thousands of dollars for the cover so I guess not. The curves and pointy parts are tough to do. And with that knowledge I have decided to only offer the bowtie in the inlay area. At least it's got straight lines and friendly corners. That and the chrome spots and color suit it.

I also included a few pictures of the inside so you can see the slit for the checkbook.

But now you can see the first ever SSR tooled on the one side. I also switched up the stitching slightly and I like this one better.
