I like your thinking, Mike

You'll fit in just fine with the rest of us. No sense of normality here at all.

Mike in AZ refers to us as the finest bunch of mixed nuts on the net.

Now to figure out how to rig a camera so we can see the guy's expression when it happens.

As for the '05, we never saw it with the hood up... your GM friends can better enlighten you, but in recent years, most factory-provided pace cars have been pretty-stock under the skin... reliability being more important than added performance.[/QUOTE]

GM changed the engine to 6 liter for the 05 and 06. Was wondering if this Pace 05 had the 6 liter or was 04 equipped and called an 05

Not sure about the '05 as I was zeroed in on the truck I bought after doing a little pre-auction research; actually research while I was out in Phoenix after getting the VINs from all three trucks.

I've since obtained a list from GM of all the races it paced/appeared at: 15 Nextel, 10 Busch, and one each in the IRL and ALMS series, most in 2005, with 1 in '04 and 5 in '06 including the final race it worked--Sony HD 500--the truck still carries the decals for this race and the companion Busch event that weekend (Ameriquest 300).

I hope that the owner of the sister truck to mine (the '05) finds SSRfanatic and also gets involved in the dialog. I have a list of the events that truck was involved in as well--interesting to see that the two were never at the same event, though I've read accounts of one truck having a mechanical issue early in a race and being replaced with a twin. Who knows? Just a lot of fun digging into all of this.

I was pretty sure there were 2 trucks at Fontana, but that was three years ago. Time to check the old photos.

There was also a Craftsman truck race on Friday night. I'll go through some old photos to see if I took a shot of the start of the race. Sure can't remember if the SSR paced that as well.
