Hey Z16; have you bought an SSR yet? If not, a couple of weeks ago, Weir Chev. in Red Bud, IL had a red one for sale for $29,995.00 PH. 618/282-2353
It was for sale for quite a while, then they put it on ebay, but I don't know if it sold yet.

BUT CAN SOMEONE CHECK THIS OUT IN PERSON FOR ME?
He has gone back down to the 29995.00 on the phone and i told him i wanted to hear interest rates. He's offering to go LOWER. .mentioned trying to sell it to me at $27999.00 Now is that a deal or what? Lets see if he comes through with it.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE CHECK OUT THIS SSR IN PERSON?
THANKS Tony

A dealership that GM would give GM employees a chance to run and sell their own products with no commissions just a true desire to fit the right vehicle to right customer. No pressure ever... no miss information... just a sincere desire to help a customer find the best vehicle to suit their needs.

Remember the 60’s there where a few dealers that dealt with all the hypo stuff, the limited toys.
WHAT IF G.M. let a couple dealers specialize in SSR’s, parts and service. Give them exclusive access to add-on’s for a big enough base for profit. Those dealers would learn all the in and outs of every issue and be dedicated guru’s of the SSR.
seem to keep seeing you on these car lists good luck on the purchase hope you find one! stillhave you impala ss? take care good luck for you
HEY David whats up? hope your doing fine yeah ive been SSR shopping for awhile now and about to land a deal I HOPE...LOL.. you know how car dealerships can be tho..haha

I have a suspicion of what dealer in Houston with which you had a problem. Keep trying some others. There are a few good ones. I had to go through about 5 before I got the price and color I wanted. Try Courtesy, Westside or Munday and I think you will have better luck.

Hi Rebel,
I think that is a great idea... I remember way back when... 70's & 80's we had one dealer in our area that used to be the number one place to bring a Corvette if you needed the best skilled mechanics to work on it etc.
Believe that Chevrolet Division already has this sort of a program in place as not all Chevrolet dealers have the Corvette availble to them... the idea for the SSr was to get mass distribution and into the smaller communities too.
In any case, the SSr takes special skills to properly market and to service. These issues are likely to only become more apparent over time when we start to need more service on items like the top and body panels.
Issue will be how to decide who should be an SSr dealer. My view is that the selection criteria should have a very high component related to the service rating the dealer achieves and specific SSr training.
Tony; I drove the red 04 SSR in Red Bud @ Weir Chevy about 3 weeks ago. I was really wanting a yellow one & with more options. At the time, it had about 125 miles on it & I put about 15 of them & gave it a good test ride. They really want to sell it and they were willing to put running boards and a cockpit windbreak on it for the $29,995 price to try to match one in Springfield, MO. It was also the local Chevy dealers March madness sale, at the time & we got a few hundred off on our yellow one also. I looked it over pretty good & couldn't see anything wrong with it at all, other than the interior not being as clean as I would have liked to have it. It was a rainy week, though & probably had a few people test drive it. We also wanted the cargo trim package, but couldn't get them to throw it in. I later learned that it is about an $850.00 option. This red one also has the painted wheels, not chrome. But I still think it is a good price. I went across the river to MO & bought my yellow one for $34,400. with all the extras except the windscreen, which I ordered last week. If I had waited even one more day, they would have added $500. back onto the price, as their sale was over. Anyway I talked to the internet manager at Weir & then to a salesman, (maybe Rob or Ron). I hope this helps.
Charley
Yes sir this does help and its good you drove it and checked it out, just being so far away i hate to buy without someone taking a look and see if i cant be there. I found this Redline to be dirty to in the pics they sent from an ebay ad. The drivers side floor looked pretty dirty and i couldnt believe they took pics of it to sell it like that. I commented on that today to the salesman and of course he gave me the old line of "OH we can get that cleaned up for you" He did tell me this is a small town or small dealership, (cant remember which he said) but he said the SSR's dont sell well there and offered me to buy it at $27999.00 price plus TTL. So they are hurting to sell it, he called back once and then i never heard back from him. SO im not sure if this is a solid price. As you said i would want the running boards, and a few more items i know i could add later. SO it sounds like you checked it out pretty good i believe he says it has a little more miles on it. SO im trying to decide to buy that one or another new 04 Ultra Violet with all the options except for chrome wheels and extra guages for the new lowered price of $30,495.00 out of the state of PA. OKAY lots of deciding to do here. I will post when i bring her home or go to get "her".. thanks to all. drive safe and enjoy those nice Hot Rods. Tony... OH did this Redline have the carpet Floor mats?

I feel really bad for what you have been experiencing. Purchased my silver 2004 for 30k - along with all the goodies.
There is a dealership in Clarksville, TN (see info below). Elivn Overstreet is a good person to deal with. After reading all the posts I went back in my e-mail to find his contact information.
I am not aware of packages, colors etc you are looking for but I called him explained all the difficulties you are experiencing and inquired about a 2004. He was very apologetic for the mistreatment you received from his fellow dealers. He doesn't have a 2004 in stock, however, he has a 2003 (gently used) and indicated that if you contact him, he may be able to locate something for you in the color, options etc through the GM Auctions.

I still haven't seen him here in Pa . He's most likely being held up in customs at the airport
Where's Tony ?
ITS THE DEVASTATOR!!!! Hey Chris i sold my daily driver today so im getting close to nothing to drive now. Tight local dealerships dont want my money!
WHO WANTS MY MONEY????? Apprarently NO special deals on this forum for a guy who's got yanked around about 5 times already. This last dealership with the SSR in Houston is the kicker changing prices on me after we (myself and the salesman agreeing to a price) and then switches prices and SSR's at the end. telling me the SSR had chrome wheels which we confirmed in the pictures sent and then sending me a letter saying "OH sorry it doesnt have chrome rims" and sending a picture of a different SSR.. IVE seen it all now.. LOL.. what jerks .. and to think Dealerships cant figure out why them and their sales staff are hated more than attorneys.. LOL....
May have to come to PA Chris.. need to decide soon.. talk laters.. Tony

If you've been yanked around 5 times already. I would begin to wonder about yourself. What is it YOU are doing wrong? Granted there are some bad apples out there. But maybe you are being unrealistic. Are you sure you are no the liar? I think It's too incredible to buy a new, untitled, $46-47k vehicle like the SSR for $30k.
Just an observation, on GMbuypower the 04's have been moving better lately. There used to be 50 within a 70 mile radius around me, and now you have to go out to 200 miles to find them. Also, when speaking to Reliable this week, they indicated that their supply being offered at the 30 level was drying up. I know there are still deals to be found, but with summer convertible season here it might be harder than during the cold months.
I can't remember - did you ever list the exact color and options you were lookin for?

Who's this guy?? are you calling me a liar? i didnt get your message here, you must be a DEALER too????? maybe? why would i lie about dealerships being SNAKES? there are plenty out there Mr. Harvey. I use to work for one many years ago selling these Chevy products.. not the SSR's but all the Corvette's and so on.. i know how that dealership worked, and how they jacked up interest rates on who they could. NOPE im not lying im getting screwed over and over and i have letters of proof. Im told one deal and they change it when i say OKAY?
Yes i agree its some machine for 30grand.. but i know it can be done.. ask around on here. What i do is offer a price and they either work with me or not. I even got help from another forum member here and the salesman was very nice, said he would call me back with a price on an very lightly used 03 SSR.. never called me back, when i called him back he said he would get back with me.. never got back with me. Got me what im doing wrong, but i do business with cars/trucks all the time, i do my on dealings and i have bought 14 new GM products in my life without this kind of struggle. That includes dealing with 5 bought Corvette's.
You know its probally a hand full of dealerships are putting out these 30grand for a new 04 SSR and not all can do it or want to do it. but my last deal out of Houston.. How would you feel if the gmbuypower/internet salesman told you to call OFF your deal (as i did Sat.) on my new 05 SSR because he was going to sell me a new 04 SSR Yellow for 30grand.. This guy had message after email message asking me "when are you coming to get your SSR" how would you feel? i agreed, he told me the options it had on it and then dodged all my calls the rest of Sat. I know they get busy after selling cars on Saturdays before. So i wait and finally later Sat. night.. he emails me backing off the deal (going up in price) and then saying he made a mistake the yellow SSR didnt have chrome wheels now.. I have two sets of pics of this Yellow SSR.. the first set have chrome wheels on a yellow SSR and in these pics the sky is gloomy.. the second set of pics its in an entirely different location, sunny outside.. different inspection sticker and NO chrome wheels. And he claimed he only had ONE yellow SSR.. SO how would you feel sir???

I agree sir, the weather is changing for the better they are probally selling better and the 30grand level is running thin. they shouldnt have ever teased me like that.. LOL..
I like Yellow, Red, Ultra Violet.. i dont have to have chrome wheels because i can always do that with a better looking chrome wheel than offered by the factory.
Just want most of the options. of course 1SB package (which i think they all have that) carpet package in the back, the better floor mats.. running boards.. i think thats almost everything you can get but some small things. Ive checked into the lesser loaded SSR's too. I'll find one, i may just buy the 05 waiting on me here, it was fully loaded and not a bad deal i dont think for the smartbuy offered to me. I just wanted the 04 because i dont hot rod and it would fit me fine and i could pay it off sooner.
thanks for your help.. search is getting old in Texas.. well today i took a day off and didnt look.. but i may be seeing Chris in PA soon on the Ultra Violet.. HEY CHRIS you ready for me.. let me check some flights.
