Well I do wish you well in your quest for a new SSR, they are truly a unique vehicle , hopfully the dealers will want to stock them in the future and the factory keeps building them. I for one do not want to see the SSR on the endangered species list .
Get out there and put pen to paper and get it bought !

My local dealer does huge fleet truck business - profit per deal is low, but it keeps his service department hopping.
Quick calculations - 8 techs, probably paid $20/hour, shop rate at $70/hour. Gross is $400/hour x 8 hours x 250 days = $800000 gross profit, plus the insane markup on parts -
Then, there's the body shop ....... over the counter parts ........
We could beat ourselves to death on this one, and like Fuzzy said on another thread, enough about the doom and gloom already!!!!!
I'm having a ball, and frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.

With all due respect Ray,
Now how you would get doom and gloom out of the facts I'm not sure.. No doom and gloom here as matter of fact it is all GOOD....... I happen to agree with most of you..... who cares.....you where having fun first and there is a cost that goes with that and that works for most of the folks .....Great...... some folks here like myself been on the fence for one reason or other and it is good to know what the market is before you try to buy...... my last 2 cents on this matter as I'm picking up my new SSR shortly........ i don't think the upside down gods will visit me anytime soon on this deal.....LOL....
My SSR: Originally Smokin Asphalt 03 #00099 now kustom graphics, tu-tone Kandy green/white

Congratulations DAVIDN,
As my grand father used to say, either SH.! or get of the pot. Same goes for the fence.
Dingbat is correct. "Invoice" is NOT what the vehcile costs the dealer "net". Especially after GM provides financial assistance as they did on the leftover SSRs.
My local dealer ADVERTISED his last 2 04 SSRs at $29,995, just to get them out.
My SSR: 04 Slingshot Yellow SSR-10351 Other rides: 03 M5, 03 Cobra, 04 Excursion 6.0L, 03 VROD, 07 Rev X 800
I had the same decision since GM enticed me at the end of the year with GM card earnings match etc. Well, picked up my new 04 Slingshot last Monday night. I hope I'm not going to offend anyone but MSRP $47,940. Are you sitting down? Selling price was $30,391.00. Plus taxes, $55.39 doc & plates LESS my $1,500 GM loyalty discount and minor $345 GM card earnings. I have been fortunate to have been able to buy several new vehicles and usually take the major depreciation hit because I couldn't wait a while after a new model came out. This was just dumb luck on my part but it sure feels nice to not take the major hit like I always have in the past. For anyone new considering an SSR like I was I doubt there will be a better time for a GREAT deal and wide selection. As for the 05 changes great for those who have to have the 05 and they will enjoy them. For me the 04 will be just fine and if I need more HP I save more than enough to make it faster than any 05.
Really loving my SSR and getting more looks than when I had my C5 vert! Can't wait for warm weather to drop the top!
Detroit-area dealers have been advertising '04's for near and even below $30K. Although I also want the new engine and 6 speed, I figured a 24 month lease on the cheaply-priced '04 and then purchase a new '06 was a great plan. The dealers quickly told me GM does not have a lease on the '04's. I do not understand that. If the dealers own the '04's, why can't they lease them? Also, any recent rumors/updates about a Z06 SSR option coming? anybody?????
Any time the residual value of a vehicle is a question mark, leases are not offered. This is because the leasing company doesn't like risks - bad OR good. The residual value nees to be known since it is one of the most important factors in setting the lease price!
On a more positive note, it is NOT just the 2004 SSR that is being discounted hevaily right now. ALL vehicles over $30k, and even many around $25k, are being discounted heavily to move them, You can easily get 12k off on a Tahoe or Suburban or Expedition.
