Indy Pace Truck for Als-SSR

Here is an Indy Pace SSR for Al. It will look good with his Brickyard.

Where is he? Out to sea?

eBay Motors: Chevrolet : SSR (item 350037917341 end time Mar-24-08 18:02:11 PDT)

Not a pace car????

Cool.. but I think something is fishy here... the Yellow SSRs were used in 2005 (not as the pace car, but a promotion car), but the decals are different than what is shown by this dealer.

Someone probably scammed the dealer and he is trying to recoup his money by passing the scam along to someone else.
I could not read the door decal.

The Slingshot SSR's that were sold were parade vehicles and I think they were all automatics.

This one is advertized as the SSR Pace Truck and is a 6 speed.

It must have made a lot of laps around the track.

I believe this truck may have been used for the IndyCar Racing Series Green Flag Tour back in February 2005--it has the right paint scheme...here's a link to the press release which has pictures...Google Image Result for http://kandn.com/images/news/PaceVehicleLg.jpg.

Those look like the door decals. But is it the actual pace truck?

Guess I'd want to see some documentaition if I was buying it. Based on what I've learned about the pace SSRs I don't believe this one was used as a race pace truck. My contacts at Wheel 2 Wheel who built the pace SSRs have confirmed that any used in IRL or NASCAR races had Whelan strobes in the tailgate (at minimum). I'd put this truck into the "official IRL vehicle" category--different from pace and parade SSRs. Intersting to spectulate on it though.

Interesting!

I ran a Car Fax on it Began life at an Auto Auction in IL 12-22-05 with 24,016 miles says it was a Manufacturer Vehicle.

Funny, I did that too last night and saw that it had been serviced a couple of times before being sold at that auction and was then titled for the first time with the 24,xxx miles on it. I've seen other GM owned vehicles with a Carfax like this which leads me to believe it was most likely that IRL Green Flag tour truck. No real extra value to me because of this, but interesting just the same. Again, hope that there's some doc. with the truck or it's just an '05 Slingshot with 46k on the clock.

One of our members custom makes the badge and sell's them on e-bay.
That is easy. What you need is the documentation.

For the heck of it I shot a note to the eBay seller asking what he had in terms of doc. on the truck. If I get a response I'll share it.

Just an update. The seller (dealer) of this truck still hasn't responded to the question/note I sent below on 3/19. Leads me to believe he doesn't have any doc. on the truck.

Hello, do you have any documentation from the Indy Racing League or General Motors that verifies that this was an actual pace SSR? The graphics and door decals are correct for the 2005 IRL Green Flag Tour SSR that toured the U.S. to promote the '05 IRL season, but without paperwork it's hard to prove any history the truck may have. Please let me know what you have. Thanks.
