***DONE 2/26/11***
The deed is done.. Da' purchased an R...
Well.. the official word has not come down.. but the shop called (he's a friend of the family) & said... it looks like my Mum's Jeep is totaled. My Dad, after this last week of driving my SSR is smitten! The thought is my Dad will give his Jeep to Mum (for the purpose of me driving her around. Its just easier for me to get her in & out of the Jeep vs the R)... and Dad will get an R for his driving enjoyment
So .. He wants an automatic... 03/04. He likes smokin' asphalt as his first choice of colors Ideally somewhere in So Cal... and in good shape! If anyone hears of anything.. let me know!!
Don't understand how getting into Jeep is easier then an SSR. For me, it the other way around.
Mum doesn't "help" getting in & out of vehicles... gravity works better... she slides down the side of the seat to get out... vs me trying to lift her outta the R. Plus the side bits of the R's seat.. her "bum" gets stuck on.. Jeep doesn't have that ledge
It was too funny... yesterday was a TOUGH day with Mum... & Dad said he thought maybe he should get something practical like another Jeep. So this morning..He took my R & went to test drive some Jeeps. He said on the drive back.. he looked around & everyone was in a Jeep.. it was so ordinary. So he sheepishly said... "I really like driving OUR R... I think I want one of my own!!!" SO we are back on...
Thank you for all the PMs and leads... I know there is an R out there for him!!
They looked at an R today for me... & it sounds like one I can cross off my list. Without their generosity to put some eyes on it... I would have made the 4+ hour round trip for nothing. How wonderful our community is!!!
My SSR: Striping by Fairfield, Confidence by Mike in AZ
Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you the lower support was not broken, but the air dam was missing. I don't know what is on the build sheet, but it's pretty rough.
Let us know if there's another down this way. Got plenty of eyes you can call on....
Glad to help in your search.....
Don't forget the Az area. You have eyes there, too and It's close enough for a Road Trip !

My SSR: "Kate" a Haughty Redhead, '06 Redline FPR 6 spd. #23333 Build Date 2/16/06
If the one today didn't work out this is another I thought looked decent. It is a 2005, pretty well loaded.
2005 1GCES14H05B118163 - 25k mi - $27k
1SB
14P - Chrome Wheels
BVF - Body Color Boards
ERK - Carpeted Cargo with silver & wood slats
RAE - Hard Storage Bins
Gauges unknown as no interior picture. (Would think this one wll have ERH - black gauges but not necessarily)
This would compare fairly well with the one we discussed as it has a few less miles and includes the carpeted cargo and hard bins.
Unfortunately it is in Salt Lake City so someone would have to look at it for you.
BTW, Secured Auto Brokers seems to be a company that wants clients to pay them for finding vehicles, so don't get caught up with that.
This appears to be inventoried but I'm not sure what their deal is on this one.
