I've never had the pleasure of meeting you, but I want to acknowledge that your unselfish sharing of performance experiences, from the details on this site to the providing the last SSR CD has been an inspiration to me. I had my SSR for only a year but I have you to thank for providing so much guidance. Thank you! All the best woth SLURP, and all of your endeavors.

I guess that's not in your neighborhood Machell! Or is Texas really that big?

Anyone know of someone that has a white Intrepid (Chrysler) that they are leaving at the destination or planning on junking it?????
the distance and "varied terrain" makes me think somewhere west of the rockies... Roget's thesaurus lists "Lionhearted" as another meaning of Intrepid, God, I hope he isn't driving all that way in a Peugot :o0 !!

Hey, Greg, Fiat 128s weren't so hot either. I had one for two years - memorable. The Italians, at least at that time, designed and built exciting cars for even the "daily commuter" market, but they weren't big on reliability. Nor on corrosion protection. Shortly after buying my two year old Fiat 128, I discovered that the thick undercoating the previous owner had applied was to hold the body together. I had purchased a two year old, 5-speed, DOHC rust bucket that needed more attention than even a British sports car!
CrosscheckFreak: We have been too tricky and have played with these good Fanatics too long!
It's time to come clean.
I'll bet no one has yet noticed the "2nd one pending" addition to your avatar.
Guys and gals, let me introduce our masked mystery buyer: CrosscheckFreak!
He is in real life Steve Montefusco, he and his wife hang out in Toms River, New Jersey, and by the way, my SSR could not possible go to a better home: Steve works for GM.
Steve has worked carefully to put together an intricate purchase and road trip plan.
I received from him today a cashiers check for $4000 of the agreed upon price, and he and I are both working through the bank paperwork for the rest of the money, the title transfer and his re-registration of the vehicle in his state.
To give you an idea how nice a man Steve is, and to illustrate the depth of friendships and trust built in this Fanatic community, he recognized that his remote location and bank would create some understandable delays in the transaction, and offered to let me put any immediate needs for "Red" ( my new project truck!) on his credit card and then I would simply reimburse him later. I don't intend to take him on that offer, but I appreciate the fact he made it.
Steve plans to drive here as soon as the paperwork and bank arrangements are completed, driving his 2003 white Dodge Intrepid (good guess, HotRodGirl!), which he will then sell here in Texas, and drive his new SSR home. Hence, "Intrepid" is indeed going to its fate, and the distance Steve will cover is in fact somewhere between 1500 and 2000 miles.
I'm not yet sure when Steve will actually be here, but Fanatics who are in the area will be welcome to come and see Steve take his first drive in the SSR that was the basis for "The SSR Experience".
Anyone looking for a really nice 2003 Intrepid, in what looks to be wonderful condition, let him know! Steve sent me photos of his pride and joy in which he has commuted 120 miles per day, and she looks very well maintained.
I have been in the meantime burning through catalogs and maagzine articles, researching all the pieces I think I need for "Red". Some of those peices are goning to come from some intersting places, and from at least one loyal and top caliber Fanatic website supporter: Greg Ducato at Phoenix Transmission. Greg is going to build em avery special tranny just perfect for Red and his new engine.
I'm thrilled that my SSR is going to a guy like Steve. I know he will have a lot of fun with it.
