If anyone is considering this type of venture my opinion is to pay the $2-3k more for the clean title because the Salvage Title will be an albatross around the neck for the life of the truck.
On the other end of this argument, if you can find a good fixed up salvage with lower miles for $14-17k it is well worth considering as an alternative to paying $22-26 for the same truck with a clean title.
All you have to keep in mind is there will be a day of reckoning when you go to resell the Salvage Title but until then the Permagrin and admiring fans will be the same.

I have heard that there are ways to "clean up" a salvage title in some states and the title is good all over, then you re-register the truck in your state. Surely others here know what I'm talking about.
Mike...I saw the car today, and to be very honest with...the car is not that bad...
In a scale of 1 thru 10, 10 being show-car status, I'll give it a 7 1/2.
It has normal where and tear for a car that has 123,000 miles...but overall it's not bad.
The interior, the carpets could be changed, and the leather on the seats are a little cracked.
I saw pictures when the guy (Raciel) bought it...front bumper, right fender and lights were replaced. the car was stolen and damaged, but later recovered. The guy has a small used car dealership, so he purchased it in auction, and is now selling it. Overall the body looks good, didn't see any water damage (under the carpets, and underside body). it has a little scratch dent on the top of the rear cover, about an eighth of an inch dent.
Overall, for a project car, I think it's perfect, and you can't beat the price.
And yes, it showed sold on ebay, but the person never complied with the 24 hour limit deposit, so it's still available...
The title looked fine...but it does show as a salvaged title...here in FL he had to go thru a special inspection with the DMV folks before they gave him the title, but he passed everything...
Give him a call, seems like a nice guy...and the car is just fine.

[QUOTE=Maui Mike;936405] Isn't it possible to buy new, with an extended warranty, pay full price with or without mark up and still get boned by GM? Why just ask X man or Ricochet about their feelings on the "R".
I would always check for Ricochets daily posts when opening SSR Fanatic for the day.............Never a dull moment and lots of straight information but he ruffled some feathers and also got a buy back from GM on his SSR and got a Corvette. I am sure he doesn't miss the Forum....
I sure hope Mike can find a good replacement SSR soon. He's been months without one and proving once again some guys shouldn't sell their SSR. Mike especially should have one. I think it's in his blood.

Hey !!! It is in my blood too. Should not have sold the Black Silk. YESSSR
