I have 05 6 speed with 27,000 miles...Local dealer has 05 automatic with 27,000 with same options as my car. To make a trade with a dealer what would you think is ball park trade difference.... 3-5 K differernce? I really hate to get rid of my 6 speed but wife has developed neck problems that does seem to cause her discomfort.
My SSR is black..dealer is Blue Blur.

The manual trannys are rare so they shoud be worth more but they are harder to sell because many don't wan't them or can't drive'em so the price should be wash IMO. The dealer likley wants to make at least a couple of thousand on any sale so start at trade plus $1k and see where it goes.
I agree with chuck duck. They probably would be happy with a couple grand. Hey, at least it's the fastest color, everyone knows that! You should get a Carfax and also ask the dealer to pull the Vin service records to see what has been done to it. Also, maybe you could negotiate an extended warranty as part of your deal if they won't meet your price. You should buy one regardless. Good luck! Play hardball with them!

I agree with Chuckduck. Tell the dealer your 6sp has more value due to availability but you are willing to give him a break.
He will argue his color is rarer and you will say that is because fewer people ordered them so less valuable to the consumer, but you are prepared to make the sacrifice for your wife's health.
At the end of the day he should be happy to pocket a couple thousand.

I'd keep the six speed, shift carefully. If you go for the trade, he owes you $3000.
Mike, if you want an auto, I suggest you sell your 6 speed and buy an auto from a private seller.
You'll get more for your truck, pay less from a motivated seller, and avoid sales tax from a dealer.
Paul at NFH made us a great deal when we sold Thumper's '05 6 Speed Aqua Blur with 18,000 miles last month, I highly recommend you contact them if you need a quick sale.
Good luck buddy, and hope to see you in Flagstaff in September!

How does that work? Here, he'd pay full sales tax on the truck he buys privately, whereas with a trade, he'd only pay tax on any cash he had to put into the deal. Sounds like in the case with the dealer, that would be zero.

My 2 Cents!
If you're doing the trade offer to pay the cost of the paper work...which should only be $50 to $100. If he says he needs to make money on the deal offer him $500 & stick to it.
I hate to say it but I did sell the SSR ...they are suppose to pick it up this week. My wife knew how much I loved the SSR so she has given me the Ok to purchase an automatic SSR since I was accommodating to her....maybe next spring.
If it was just me.... I am pretty sure I would go with the SSR. XLR V is smooth riding and powerful but doesn't have that throating V8 sound that I already miss....especially when you downshift. SSR is easier to get in and out of. XLR doesn't have much trunk space when you put the top down. It is fun to kick in the supercharger on the XLR!!! Both nice vehicles and something you don't see everyday.
Plan to stay active with SSR fanactics....
