jgabriel66, If you are shopping for a 2005 then I would do this first; go on chevrolet.com then click on "Trucks" then click on the SSR picture then on the left hand column click on"build my chevy" and then select a style base and then put in your
zip code, then click "submit" ,scroll down and click on "continue" next click on "locate this vehicle" Walah ,Presto, Mucho Info
search each dealer in your area and print out the window sticker of the ones that meet your criteria . After a while you will know from the price what options it has and so only whether it is a stisk or auto wii determine a closer look. Once you have found 3 similar vehicles in a two hour drive from your house you are now able to wheel and deal. when you check out the car at the dealership dont be too excited but matter of fact . See how many miles are on the OD let them explain every thing about the vehicle and then take a test drive. They now know your serious. Sit down and tell them this is what I am willing to offer 5k off MSRP, they will come back and say they only have like 3K to go you mention that is true if you wern't counting the 3% holdback they get from GM on top of that ( works out to approx $1500) thats when they say thats to pay for the rent and lites and you say . Not this time " I am aware that these are not selling cuz they are over priced and GM went from making 70 to 40 per day so its your call, last chance before I go somewhere else that I have located the same vehicle ( don't say where though) they already know too. Then you must be ready to leave if they wont deal. They will ask is there a trade , are you gonna finance { thats another story} tell them yes if you are { might get more off} but watch out they will say they could only get you X% to try to make some other bonus points. NEVER give your phone # unless you want to be called and called and called.
If they want to deal they will. They will try to drag it out cuz they have all day thats why you must start low and go up not the other way.
hope this helps and let us know what happens and what you decide on.
The dealership can make the $ they didn't make on you on the next person that buys from them that didn't do any research. Remember they are getting rid of a slow moving vehicle in a tightening market. look what happened to the 04's, well 06 is just arount the corner.
