Make me on offer on the whole lot.... Can deliver to Woodward Cruise.
Note: These parts will never be made again. I spoke to the owner of the company who supplied these to GM. The company has gone bankrupt, and the tooling was all destroyed.
Hello ... I have an engine cover for an 05-06 SSR on the 5.3 engine in my 49 Chevy Fleetline, and I'm not that crazy about the look. However, I do like the looks of the 03-04 style, which I saw at the link you posted. Will it interchange with the version I currently have? If so, I am certainly interested in acquiring one. Let me know. Thanks.
I've had several 2005-2006 owners ask me where they can buy an engine cover so they can use the grilles. They are easy to exchange one for the other. Here they are!
I bought one of these from Keith, and it arrived today ... a nice piece of gear. My 49 Chevy has a 5.3 motor with an 05-06 SSR engine cover. The 03-04 cover from Keith uses 3 fasteners that screw into a composite bracket sitting atop the manifold; the 05-06 set-up uses 4. So this means an 05-06 application will require modification to or replacement of that bracket ... doesn't look to be to tough a task, but it is way to hot in an AZ garage to screw with it right now.
But if you want to make the change, Keith is your man .... good price, nice product, and prompt shipping. Thanks, Keith!!
As a courtesy to members of this forum, here's what I found out on converting from the 05-06 engine cover to the 03-04 version. The part no. of the retainer (which is what GM calls the mounting bracket) that allows the cover to attach to the intake is #15137943. It has been discontinued; however there are still some in the parts system. Nalley Pontiac-GMC Truck in Brunswick, GA has one at nearly $90 plus shipping. Vintage Parts, Inc in Beaver Dam, WI (vpartsinc.com) has 8 (one less than this morning) at about $80 plus shipping. Both are pretty pricey for a plastic bracket, IMHO, so you might try to modify your existing 05-06 bracket by drilling it and super gluing/epoxying in a captive nut to accept the metric screw from the engine cover. But it's 114 in my garage right now, so I took the spendier, but cooler alternative. Once you have the bracket in hand, you should be able to change to one of the covers that Keith is selling above. Best wishes.
After really looking at my old 06 cover, I can see why people have asked Doc Martin how to convert back to the old cover.... The O3-04 cover has a really good look, and then can be dressed up with Doc's Engine Cover Trim Grilles.
The mounting of the old cover on a 05-06 can be done about 3 different ways.... all of which are very easy, and the most complicated only requires an electric drill.
I still have about 10 sets of the engine cover trim grilles and I don't know if I will be making more of them. So, get yourself an engine cover and a set of the grilles while you can.
My SSR: 2006 Pacific Blue FPR #123819 & Smokin' Asphalt #122701
What would one in Pac Blue and one in Red cost me shipped to Ca 92201?? Will they fit on 2- 2006s with the bigger motors?? I am a new member so I haven't kept up on what fits what. PM me if you would or I am at M_J_Ent@yahoo.com
