I've personally only used Custom Coatings on my aftermarket chrome work on plastic parts. They do very nice work and electroplate VERY heavily, which usually is good, but not in all cases, depending on the part. D&S Plating does very nice work as well from what I've been told. They do not electroplate quite as heavily, but they are usually less expensive.

I've used both companies, and Alex is correct.
IMO, D&S is the hands down winner for cost and finish.

I just got my chrome grille bow tie recently from RSSRRTOY (Mark). It a little cheaper then the chrome plating process plus you don’t need to do a core exchange.
Only problem is it may or may not be in stock so he may have to put you on the waiting list. I don’t think I had that long of a wait…. Maybe two months + (-) a week.

Is it vacuum plated? If so, it won't hold up to the weather very long.

You can't go wrong if you take these guys advice.
Vacuum plating is a waste of money. It's junk.

My bad. I read too fast and thought it said bow tie cross bar.
Forget about the reference to RSSRTOY…. Give the surf city guy a call.
I got a ballpark price of $500 to "Chrome" the Kaminari Smoothie and three lower bars. Their website CoatofChrome.com says
"This finish is not a spray paint or vacuum metalizing. This finish is the combination of special catalyzed base coatings; a silver metal deposition (similar to the material used in mirrors) and a protective acrylic urethane top coat (similar to the industrial clear coat on your car). The combined layers result in a durable non peeling coating that will not flake or yellow. Yes, the finished surface will accept conventional paints to enable striping, accenting with graphics or airbrushing."
They sent me a picture of the grill spear they did for a SSR , anyone have first hand expirience with them or their product?

Chuck,
Yes, this is the same company/website that Eric posted about earlier. Sure the price is a lot cheaper, but IMHO this is again one of those "you get what you pay for" scenarios. No way this process or any simulated chroming process utilizing an acrylic urethane top coat could match the durability nor most likely the shine of true electroplated chrome parts. If someone could actually pull that off, they would have succeeded in putting the "electroplated boys" out of business.....and that has not happened, nor do I believe will it happen.
I'll admit that the photo of the chevron bar looks pretty decent from what I can tell, but take a look at this photo of a supposed "chrome" engine cover from their website. That particular piece looks more like satin chrome to me. Coat of Chrome - Don't Paint it Chrome It - Chrome Car and Truck Parts

After looking at the link that Alex posted, I’m kinda wondering how our rear tail lens would look if this Coat of Chrome was applied.
