POSTED JUNE 2012
For sometime now I have been frustrated over washing the truck and opening the hood to see water splashed everywere. If you have a engine compartment that you keep clean or really dress up this has been a headache. When you wash your truck with the hose you shoot the water across the top your fender and the way the fender curves it just shoots the water right under the lip of the hood into the engine compartment. I came up with a solution. After studying different rubber seals I came up with this perticular one. It is an adhesive seal that you put on the inside edge of your hood. It is only visible when you open the hood. I bought a reel of this rubber seal and going to offer it to our group. You will get 10.5 feet to run both sides of the hood for $25.00 plus $4.00 shipping. New pricing since 2012

I was ask if these seals are for show engines. Not necessary so. When you wash your truck and water splashes into the engine compartment it has the possibility of getting into your wiring and electronics too. We all know how sensitive our R's are in that usual area. These seals are cheap insurance in my opinion.
Updated July 2012
After having the seals installed for over 6 weeks now I haven't had a problems with heat and it's been very hot here lately. I don't suspect this to be a problem since there are a number of R's that have the stainless steel covers over there complete engines without heat related issues.r
This also solves the problem of worrying which way you hose your truck down. This is why I studied what seal to use.
PM me if you are interest.
With all of the stainless steel that I have in my engine compartment, it never gets wet hosing it off just by spraying away from the opening. That is a big reason why I have the OEM filters in both of mine because it seals off the water even in the rain.
From talking to some who has the stainless steel they say they do get water in there when washing. Now this seal is for the sides of the hood not for the front edge

Update
After having the seals installed for over 2 weeks now I haven't had a problems with heat and it's been very hot here lately. I don't suspect this to be a problem since there are a number of R's that have the stainless steel covers over there complete engines without heat related issues.

PM me if you are interest. I only have so many kits from this reel.
Dick has now installed the seals on his hood and now will also be selling them to the Florida crew. Locally you can contact him or if you need them mailed contact me.
Thanks
Doug
the hood seal works very well, thank you. Washed my SSR and squirted the sides and not a drop in the engine compartment.
For those who questioned Engine Overheating - there is none. I went on a 300 mile road trip and the temperature was holding at 195F - 200F. I do have Mike Fan of course.
Its not scientific test... this may help with your decision.
I will have at least 10 sets soon. Thanks to Doug.
I have installed with very good success.
Don't have my Stainless as mess.
Anyone with "Bling" under their hood may want to do this mod.

1. I did full length of hood.
2. I should have stayed closer to the outside of hood.
3. Have a little to much space between outside of hood,or my hood doesn't close tight enough.
