Welcome aboard - If you do a search on MPD running boards I think you will find positive feedback. Also if you include your location in your profile you might find someone in your area who has them so you can check them out first hand.
Thanks Again. I Am Enjoying The Heck Out Of This Truck. I Trying To Decide Between Mpd And Factory Running Boards. Thanks For The Input.
For those of us that actually drive our trucks daily, OEM is a PITA to take care of. They form this grey, chauky looking crap on the rubber part. Lots of threads on here on how to remove it or treat it. Eric & Melissa Peters at MPD are Fanatics to the core and have always done us right.
When we first got our truck, I installed a set of OEM running boards. They work great and add a great look to the truck. on the negative side, we discovered that they really hit us in the back of the calf, more than we wanted. They came off in a month or so and we've been "boardless" for 4 years.
We just got the MPD boards installed on our truck and brought it home yesterday. They look great too. A very different look than the OEM boards. They seem to modify the lines of the truck a little and actually make it look longer. Debbie says "they complete the truck". The MPD boards are not structural and you can't stand on them. They also don't stick out as far as the OEM ones.....
My advise.....
Find a truck that has the OEM running boards installed and do a little testing of entry and exit. You and your copilot may find it OK... or you may not. It's personal preference. This will really give you some concrete criteria for making your decision. You should also see a set of the MPD running boards installed.
Here's photos of my truck with OEM boards and no boards, along with a photo of Jeff Henry's truck with the MPD boards installed. Best comparison I can offer.
Regards,
Mike

I think Jeff's truck has the MPD rear spoiler. It's a nice touch.
One really big thing, when you install the MPD boards........ the rear fender rock guards have to be removed. Removing them is not a big deal..... Having them off does open you up for an increase in rock chips on the rear fenders, though.
I'm working on some clear mud flaps for the front tires......

I have small flat black mud flaps put on in the front which really isn't that noticeable. Also, I'm going To put 3M Clear bra material on in place of the ex-rear fender rock guards soon.
MPD and 3G Services both have excellent aftermarket running board "Ground Effect" alternatives for running board replacements if you do not like the OEM look.
That said, Mikey is correct in saying you must remove the OEM rock guards on the rear fenders. You will experience rock chips at the front of the rear fenders . I've had MPD boards installed on Hellvis since '07, and the delta point for rock chips is at the lower front of the rear fenders.

I'll add this:
OEM running boards in the same color as your SSR have a nice look, and I agree with Mike, us short guys do hit our calves. But there is a fix, as you can modify your brackets so the board mounts lower and closer to the body of the truck. Still hides the frame, too.
I love the no OEM rock guard look, so I took mine off. I run a large black flaps in front (and rear.) No chips, and I am in dirt every time I drive it.
I also love the fiberglass running boards like Jeff and Mike have, but my youngest son has CP, and my truck's boards MUST be functional.
MPD boards do look great, with a smooth more finished look.
Just be sure to preheat the glass to make sure you have no air pockets in the glass boards.
If you do have air pockets they will blister after they are painted and sit in the sun for a while.
All Great Info. You Guys Are The Best. I Found A Great Deal On Oem's, So I Am Going To Modify Those. Atleast, Until I Can Afford The Mpd's, I Like That Look.

Hey All, what I did in regards to the rock guards, was to trim the lower part off and match it to the panel and fender joint. I have George`s (Impala Studio) side pipes which has FG rocker panels.
