Jim G's e-book "The SSR Experience"

For those who do not yet know it, in late 2005 I completed an e-book called "The SSR Experience". The book is a complete guide to choosing, buying, living with, and modifying an SSR. It runs 320 pages of strong, no fluff content. The book is beautifully illustrated with 113 very high quality digital photos, plus 21 graphs, charts, dyno curves, and G-Tech screen shots - most of them also in full color. All dyno curves and G-Tech screen shots are fully explained. This book is THE (and ONLY!) definitive guide to selecting, owning, and modifying an SSR.

It has been "published" as an e-book in order to both make it financially feasible and to get it into everyone's hands as soon as possible. It is sent out in Adobe Acrobat format, so that virtually anyone's computer can open it. Most computers have Acrobat already, but for those that do not, Adobe Acrobat Reader software is available FREE from Adobe, and instructions on where to get it are included with your e-copy of the book.

The Table of Contents is:

Introduction

Chapter 1: What In The World IS the SSR Supposed To Be?

Chapter 2: Important Aspects in How The SSR Was Engineered for Production

Chapter 3: Reasons to Buy an SSR

Chapter 4: Reasons to NOT to Buy an SSR

Chapter 5: Which Model Year? 03/04 or 05/06?

Chapter 6: Differences & Similarities Between 03/04s and the 05/06s

Chapter 7: What to Look for When Buying Either New or Used

Chapter 8: The Special Situation of Trading an 03/04 on an 05/06 Model

Chapter 9: Understanding, & Living With, The Quirks

Chapter 10: Working As a Team With GM & Your Chevrolet Dealership

Chapter 11: Keep it Stock, or Modify It?

Chapter 12: The Range of Potential Modifications, & Their Practicality, REAL Effectiveness, & Rough Costs

Chapter 13: Working As a Team With Your Speed Shop & Custom Tuner

Chapter 14: Simple & (Usually) Reversible Modifications

Chapter 15: Moderate and Practically Non-reversible Modifications

Chapter 16: Major Modifications

Chapter 17: Understanding the SSR's Onboard Computer & Its Agenda

Chapter 18: Dyno Data

Chapter 19: Actual Street Performance Data

Chapter 20: The importance of Staying Connected With Other SSR Owners

Cost is $30. You can buy one of 2 ways:

1. Go to PayPal.com, select "send money", and send $30 to my PayPal account:

JimGnitecki@gmail.com

Note! This is my NEW email address, as of 11-02-2010. Please do not send e-book orders, or write to me, at my old MSN address. Use this new Gmail address!

Be sure to use the notes field to include the email address to which you want the e-book sent!

or

2. Send a $30 check by mail to:

James Gnitecki
16910 Hamilton Pool Road - Unit 6
Austin, TX 78738

Again, be sure to include the email address to which you want the e-book sent!

I continue to provide lots of free information in my postings on the board, but the book allowed me to provide WAY more information and detail on each subject, in a well organized manner, that builds towards logical conclusions. It also allows you to get detailed answers right away without waiting for a relevant post.

For those who like to preview a book, send me an email and I'll send you a free 30 page sampling of the content that will give you a taste for both the tone and the level of detail.

Note that the sample is in Microsoft Word format, and is a large attachment - about 2.9 MB. The actual e-book is not much larger at 5.1 MB, because it was converted by my friend Dan O'Toole (a fellow Fanatic on this board), into COMPRESSED Adobe Acrobat Reader pdf format. Note also that the actual e-book can be opened on virtually every computer, since almost every computer has Adobe Acrobat Reader on it, since the software is free.

Jim G should have a testimonial article for this book...

If you're looking at buying an SSR this book will tell you what to check before buying. If I had it before I bought it would have saved me hundreds of dollars and several trips to the dealer.

If you already have an SSR the book has great info on maintenance and mods.

In short, it's a must have. The best $30 you can spend on your SSR.

Oops! You must be confusing me with someone else -while I have done a lot of things in my life, I have never been a "GM executive"! I WISH I could have been, especially during GM's glory years, but I've not had that privilege. I HAVE been aorund both cars and motorcycles for a very long time, and just plain love playing with them and learning about them.

I go back to Jim's book from time to time and find I missed or overlooked something. It helped me emensely when I did the mods to Penelope, not to mention Jim's help in offering guidelines.
This is the bet $30 an "R" owner will ever spend.

P/P

Peace

$30!....this is only a small cost of what you will pay for an ashtray liner on the SSR!

The wealth of knowledge in Jim's book is a perfect example where value far exceeds the cost.

Bought it and used it to buy my truck.

Frank: I just emailed your copy. Let me know if you got it ok, as I sent it while at work, rather than from my home office computer.

I have a ways to go to hit that "million" mark. That's why it is an e-book - no publisher would touch any book whose total possible sales volume is less than maybe half a million copies, as the setup costs are just too high. Since the total number of SSRs sold was only about 25,000, you can see that potential total sales are, uh, "pretty limited", and I have barely scratched the total potential market - this site is the only place the book is advertised.

But right now, even the miniscule "income stream" the book provides is appreciated, as I am scheduled to be laid off from my "day job" next Friday the 16th. That's after my last "permanent" job disappeared mid October after the boss missed the sales target by almost 40% thanks to the economy. It's getting a bit disocuraging to continue pedaling . . .

Thanks, BeachDude! I emailed your copy earlier this evening!

I'm actually not worried about it anymore. The Lord has demonstrated to me vividly that He takes care of us. Somtimes, we get right to the edge of the cliff, but we always seem to be rescued somehow. You have to have faith.

It's a tough job market out there right now. I am more concerned for people that have families including small kids. Karen and I can always manage one way or another.

Do the supercharger first, Dude!!! You can't have those 2 boxes sitting aorund with all that extra power lurking inside. Those horses will break out if not released soon!

Then, take your time reading the book.

BTT = "back to top". It recycles the ad back to the top of the current ads listed.

As new ads are added to the forum, each existing ad is "bumped" downward, so eventually it gets lost on the 2nd, 3rd, or nth page of the forum screens.

Most people on most forums who are selling items that are recurring multiple sales (like my e-book), as opposed to one-time sales (like a poster selling his unneeded trailer hitch ONCE), therefore re-post once per week or so.

However, this forum forbids having the same ad re-POSTED each week, because the administrators want only one instance of each ad on the multi-screen forum. They have said that it is ok therefore to instead "reply" to your own ad by tpying "BTT" (back to top). A reply automatically recycles the ad back to the top of the forum briefly. It of course starts to get pushed downward immediately again by the posting of new subsequent ads, and the cycle repeats.
