front/back flaps
been thinking on ideas to make front flaps wide enough to keep splatter from hitting the rear fender. rears to have bowtie w/red lites behind them. long enough to keep all splatter from bottoms of fenders. (i'm wayyy too lazy to make more work for myself). maybe tie them into running, brake, turn lites? endless. ideas are not sacred, so anyone want to run with it? go for it. let's us throw some ideas out here!! bear
I had a set cut from 1/8" clear kevlar. Made a template from a large genatic Chevrolet pick-up mud flap then had the kevlar routed to size. Used the stock screws that are in each well.
People have lookes at the SSR and not seen the mudflaps and they protect like a normal flap without the ugly look.
Had them on 3 months now, still easy to clean. No noticable rock marks and no more chips on the paint.
Installed a pair on the front that i picked up at Farm and Fleet in Woodstock Ill.have seen them at PEP BOYS and other auto parts stores, great coverage they are black rubber with the Chevy Bow Tie outline raised in gold looks pretty good for mud flaps and protects the stone guard on the rear fender,i used existing holes to mount,no drilling.

Mud flaps
I deal with 18 wheelers on my job and we use a lot of plastic mud flaps on the trailers. They are 24"x30" and 1/4 " thick, They can be cut with a razer knife easy.
They are black and the best part is they are only around $ 5.00 each. They are easy to keep clean and don't mess up the paint where you mount them to the original holes. They are rigid enough to Deflect rock but flex so they don't break.
Just my .02 input on this.
Thanks,
Tom

My SSR: "Babe" '06 Pacific Blue/Chrome/6pd #22407, born 10/14/'05, and #21393, died 2/16/'07.
I live in dirt, so I have front flaps- long, wide as the tire and plain black, and rear flaps- shorter, wide as the tire, and plain black. I used the same mounting holes, but needed a few more to hold then on. I'd like thicker flaps, as mine have curled on the outside corners. Excellent rock protection!

I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN FRONT AND REAR MUDFLAPS WITH SSR ON THEM. ALSO LOOKING TO TAKE OFF REAR BED COVER. GM MAKES THE MOULDING TO COVER THE WEATHER STRIP. I AM LOOKING FOR THEM. THANKS, ART LEMIRE ARTLEMIRE@JUNO.COM

I tried to install molded black from autobarn. But after mock up, I decided against it. I'm worried about dirt or grit getting between the mold and the paint. Sold them to one of the members (they were still new)
I then ordered my current "bling" flaps. Here is my take after about 6 months. They look great (see the link). They are well made and fit good. If I decide to remove them, there will be no trace left behind. Now the bad, these are not heavy duty flaps. They do dent easily. They show water spots. This will not last longer then a few years of normal use (my guess). They cost much more then a black pvc type (about 4x more)
I would consider installing a simple black set of mud flaps but it would have to be flush mounted not molded. If one was made for the SSR I would purchase.
My SSR: 2004 Redline-#11446-1 of 43 Calif. Speedway Parade Lap Trucks 9/05/04 (#48 Jimmie Johnson)
Emblems cost well more than the flap........
Went and got truck RV mud flaps at Pep-Boys. Black PVC flat flaps but heavy enough not to blow in the wind. Flush mounted did a little extra mounting with small bolts & nuts. These are the widest that are made and cover the area across our tire excellent. Now to explain the title.. Flaps are about ten dollars a pair but I added red Chevy bow ties that are on the back trunk lid of the newer Monte Carlo's at $14.00 a piece.... Centered them in the middle at the bottom of each flap it added a little extra weight and these have the 3M tape so make sure when you stick-um that's where you want them. Been on for over a year and have had no problems, put 303 protectant on them and they stay black like new.....
Only fair picture's I have if you zoom in you can make out what I'm talking about, kinda of hard to photo.
