2010 Woodward Dream Cruise Thank You's
The next set of pictures I post are those that need to be recognized for their contribution to the WDC
The early morning set-up crew, cooking hot dogs helping out at chief bob's BBQ and helping out on the lot for Saturday...
I have some that went overboard helping me out for this WDC and I would have been lost w/out the last minute dedication.....those I will single out in an individual post as they do deserve it!!
Cool Blue (Judy & Carl)
ssrtruck (Jim & Mindy)
Quest (Ralph & Ruth)
downshifter (Judy & Marv)
Marty (Marty & Dee)
Jessie & Mike
Ray & Linda

My daughter (Jessie) and her boyfirend (Mike)
I am not even sure where to start to thank these two as the help started long before the WDC started. They sold raffle tickets, loaded and unloaded everything that needed to be at the lot for Saturday, entertained for me also, ran to get last minute things and were my backbone for the 4 day event including before and after.
Not having Steve here with me....these two were a godsend
I love you both and thank you isn't enough for all you did........ and neither of them own an SSR but Mike say's he's getting a pocket model so the next time someone ask him which SSR he owns he's pulling it out of his pocket to say this is it

ssrtruck (Jim & Mindy)
They didn't know it when they decided to be my camper guests for the WDC but I can tell you this I worked them hard and they took it ... giving 100% without even flinching
I enjoyed my time with you both and a lot of time we did get to spend with each other this time.....Thank You for EVERYTHING you both went overboard!!!!
including the HRG bottle of wine
(Mindy is in the yellow shirt)
and Jim my Debbie McMuffin's Recipe is for personal consumption only....no sharing

cheifbob (Ann & Bob)
For the outstanding BBQ and taking on the Friday Blue Water Bridge Run and opening your home up for the fanatics......it was wonderful for me to not have to plan this day.
For making the lot possible for the 40 some fanatics whom traveled in and supplying the hot dogs, chips, soda and bottled water for the lot for some of this year and next .
Thank You

Thank you HRG for all of your efforts to make the WDC a success!
Few members know what is involved in putting together an event like this, and you've done it for years, my hat is off to you and those that make it possible every year.
We need more members to step up and organize more of these events, such as the WDC, Maggie Valley, Laughlin, the Peach City Cruise, the Colorado Ralley, the Chocolate Ralley, the Niagara Ralley, the Kingsburg Ralley, the Covered Bridge Ralley, the Keys and Panhandle Ralleys, the International Ralleys, and on and on.....I apologize if I've left some out.
My point is, the folks that sweat blood and tears to make these ralleys a success need your support, and are willing to help you as a member organize your own event.
In any event, please, please, let the folks that organize these events know that you appreciate their efforts.
Thank you again HRG for your warm welcome to karen and myself and to all that where there for making us feel so welcome and part of the group your the best
I'd like to thank Deb for the great cruise Heather and I enjoyed. I do know how much work is involved, and how you have to be willing to be flexible and have a plan two (tiki bar). Also Bob and Ann for opening up their home to us for the BBQ.
We enjoyed meeting some of the people behind the posts I'm reading.
I'll try to get something going up here in Peterborough for next summer. Lots of beautiful country and winding roads across rocky rivers and around lakes Saturday nights at the FREE music festival etc.
Anyone interested?

Woodward Dream Cruise, What goes on behind the scenes and what you that weren't there didn't see how Debbie ( hotrod girl ) handled all that happened!! First there was the Tiki Bar that she couldn't say enough about for week, and how this was going to be a great Meet and Greet. So...we all get there and nobody cares where we sit, what we are ordering, and no, no service at all. Debbie keeps apologizing about the service and finally gets the Manager to put us in the back room and still no service..so we all got up and left. After all the manager didn't even care that we had a tornado Warning and and all of us should have been put in a secure area.DIDN'T HAPPEN !! Debbie still felt this was all on her shoulders and of course it wasn't at all!!! Then of course we all know that we have no control over the weather, so Saturday it rains all day. With everyones help we had a woderful time just talking and acting stupid, sometimes!
Debbie, thanks for a great time with many friends and for doing all this for us SSR fanatics year after year. And Ray, we also have many thanks for you getting the bank lot for us to be able to sit on Woodward Avenue. You guys make it a given for all of us all these years.
Thanks are hardly enough in saying that we love you guys and you made this happen for us.
Judy

My thoughts...........
Any event leader would have been upset over what the manager of the Luna Kai did. Looking around the room I see three children up past their bedtime and hungry not to mention the 40 people (some of whom traveled in long distances in some cases). We were hungry and tired and it is unacceptable what he did do.....he made me look bad in the eyes of many that by itself pisses me off! You would have been heartless as an event leader to just shrug this off as we are accountable for the scheduled events we are planning.
Now on the other incident that occurred....I could not remember if a particular member was on the list for the WDC lot and I asked that they called me so I could check as I did not have the list of attendees with me on Friday. There was fear that we would not be able to park all of the members as last we figured the lot only holds 34 comfortable. My mistake as I should have went to the lot myself and counted. In the past there have been vehicles parked in the back row which has taken up some of our lot. These members went home....at the lot that morning I called to apologize and explained the situation to them again.... I did ask them to call me as I left the BBQ early enough to head home for verification. They were very pleasant on the phone and very understanding. However I did hear about it from other members and I accepted the mistake as at that point there was nothing I could do.
A review of the lot with Ray we realize that we can park more then the 40 we had for this year
What I find unacceptable was the sly comments, rolling of the eyes, ignorance and rude comments that occurred to myself, some of my help and other members by some. I was not the only one to see this as several members approached me about it. I don't think the incidents that occurred called for any of this and I have no respect for those that did so.
Until you run an event you have no clue what is behind the set-up the worry and the trying to please some 100 members. I've had a great track record and did not expect the series of events that occurred including the weather and as an event host you can only learn from it.....which I have done so
I still feel that this WDC was a success the two items that occurred did not warrant the treatment that was received!!!!
I've said my piece and will now move on

I had a great time there and enjoyed all the time. Thanks to Debbie and all involved for putting all together. I was able to meet and spend time with y'all and get work done on our cottage nearby. We're making a very quick trip 9/30 to 10/3 for niece's wedding in Bath, and hope to be at next years event.
Thanks again,
Keith
