2011 Reunion SSR/LCC/ASC -WDC Weekend - DISSCUSSION THREAD

"Save the Dates"

2011 marks the 5 year end of production of the SSR........

This is the offical thread....please go to this link 2011 National 5 Year End of Production SSR Reunion/Woodward Dream Cruise

I am planning on reuniting with ASC and the LCC Staff coinciding with Woodward Dream Cruise Weekend the third week of August, 2011. Plans are now underway and the location will most likely be Lansing. More information will follow in the months to come. I am currently working with Sue Figel (LCC) and waiting on confirmation for an ASC employee to join in.

In order to reach as many as we can, 2011 will be the best for planning stages plus marks the 5 year end of production of the SSR.

This is in no way an attempt to take away from the Flagstaff National Rally that is already in place for September of 2011.

10 years is to long so a 5 year reunion is best! With the recent development of the SSR Heritage Forum it has made it possible for me to reconnect with many LCC/ASC staff the passion is till there and many are wondering how we are all doing as well.

Thank You,

Debbie Cook

August 18th being Thursday to August 22nd Monday of 2011

Saturday would be spent on Woodward so Friday or Sunday are tentative for the reunion get-together.

We are in the very early stages of this but are also looking into the REOlds parade (The REOlds museum holds many items from the LCC Facility).

Thanks Doug that's a relief!! I've been working behind the scene here and things are unfolding quickly.

I've stated many times that I was planning on re-uniting and the 5 year mark is "right" to do just that. Looks like 2011 will be a busy year ....I'd better start saving now as I don't want to miss the Flagstaff Rally either!

I knew you'd jump in with both feet .....we've shared many chats about just this topic in the past and present. Your passion for all runs as deep as mine does... it's evident in your above post!! Yes Chuck our goal is to re-unite with the "Core Team" Engineer's, Designers, Quality and hourly workers ....etc. I too am confident that they are looking forward to this reunite....it's evident in current e-mails and phone calls shared.
If there is anything I can have you do from there....you can be sure that I'll contact you. I appreciate the willingness to step forward!

Rick Wagner..........ya never know but I'll do my best he seems to have a lot of time on his hands these days.

How about settling for the Lansing, Detroit, GM Locals news?

A 5 year reunion with the SSR owners, Core Team, Workers ...... as word gets out I am sure it will stir up some sort of TV, News interviews and articles. I have a few e-mails that can stir up just that type of exposure

I gotta make this one so count me in.The Woodward Dream Cruise is something I've always wanted to do. And your plan of reuniting with ASC and the LCC Staff just made it better.

Then an added bonus for me is to visit Hamtramck, where my mothers side of the family is from. Better start saving for this....

I lived in Hamtramck when we first moved here......parents moved us out just after the riots occurred in 67-68.....gosh I haven't been back there in a long time. Still remember the house as vividly as yesterday!

Woodward Dream Cruise is a must see......Tommy you'll love it!!

As soon as the e-mails slow down my focus has to turn to the WDC of 2010 very soon Although I have already been brain scheming for this one!

At the MV Rally there was some confusion as to when the 5 YEAR END OF PRODUCTION REUNION will take place......IT IS NOT THIS YEAR 2010 IT WILL BE NEXT YEAR 2011

Deb, Bob and I are going to join you again for the 2011 WDC. We loved our first one and it's time to return!

We will also be going to the Flagstaff National Rally. We will fly to Detroit in August and drive to Flagstaff in September. 2011 is shaping up to be a pretty "Fanatical" year!

Donations that are being received will go towards the following items and events to hold our spots:

These are events that are underway for the 5 Year SSR End of Production Reunion/WDC:

WDC Lot Fee
GM Heritage Tour (sent e-mail off today)
REOlds Museum Tour
2011 Patches
2011 T-Shirts
Lunch at local hall in Lansing for the reunite
Parade through Lansing

Needing Help

I would like someone to take on the ordering of the T-shirts following through with shipping and preparing the orders for pick-up , collecting the money and paying the T-shirt vendor....anyone?

I will design the patch & t-shirt for next year so you won't have to worry about that.

Secondly I need someone that lives in the Lansing area to help route out an SSR Parade...anyone?

I will have other areas to delegate ...please climb on-board so I am not the only one running this Many hands make for successful and light work

Thumbs up

Hey Deb,

We have been invited to stay with my sis and bro-in-law, Doug Ungemach. He will be there to meet and sign his autograph for whoever wants it.

After WDC, wee will scoot to Flagstaff.

I am extremely excited about the response I am seeing for this reunion I do need help locally.....please climb aboard and help me in making this successful I have a few areas that can be researched now .....It will take from now until the third week of August next year to get everything in place. I would also like to attend the Flagstaff Rally and a team in place for this will make that possible for me too

Being a new member, I have a question. With all of the rallys and reunions that are coming up, I was wondering if most people drive or trailer their SSR's. My 06 is very low milage and I was wanting to keep it that way, but I would also like to attend some of the rallies. I know it was built to drive, but sense they are not in production any more I am trying to keep the miles down.
