My SSR: 2006 FPR six speed, 3SS, black over silver
1 of 2 Original SSR PCBC entrants- Count Us In!!
Ray, Karen and I are a big yes!! We'll be there. To the readers, Ray and I met by chance in Penticton when Karen and I were talking our first cruise in our 2006 FPR SSR, built on 3/1/2006 and pickup up on 3/23/2006. Ray and I were the only SSR's in the 2006 Peach City Beach Cruise with opposite tu-tones, Black over Silver and Silver over Black. I won the first SSR trophy from the PCBC. We were entered in the Millennium Class and won 2nd. place as there was no SSR class at that time. (the only reason I won over Ray was because I was on the street and Ray was parked in the park grassed area). It was really fun as most people at the show hadn't seen a SSR or at least up close. We both got the usual questions like.. what is that, when did they make those? , is that a VW, Studebaker, etc. I teased my wife because I said the SSR was a chick magnet, exept all the admirerers were well over 70! We couldn't believe how many women over 70 came up and said-- we used to have one of those in the old days! Lots of pictures taken, people stopping us in parking lots, on the street, etc.
Anyway, our SSR is still just as much fun today as it was that first few months we drove it. Penticton is a great venue and vacation location. If you have never been to British Columbia, or only to the Vancouver BC area, you really need to see the Okanogan Valley, it is clean, green, uncrowded, with an amazing number of very good wineries, lots of roadside fruit and vegetable stands and just a great place to tour. Ray and Iris are great hosts!!

Thanks for the endorsement, Tom
Check's in the mail.
That chance meeting was tougher than it sounds. That was before Tom knew those things had mirrors. Had to chase him several miles through Penticton before I forced him to pull over.
Tom and I met about the time the Northwest Fanatics were getting going. Tom and Karen went to a SSR event in the Seattle area that summer, then organized a run to Lake Chelan in the fall. That was the first car event Iris and I went to - Paul and Doris came from Arizona, George and Virginia made the trek from Prince George, Sandy and Wayne came from Langley, and a whole contingent of Washington SSR made the trip. We were hooked.
Decided we should try to get 20 or so SSRs to Penticton for the 07 Beach Cruise. 42 showed up. The rest is history. The Beach Cruise has been a very successful event. We expect between 750 and 800 cars this year. We had hoped for 80 SSRs, but we lost some of the long distance runners to the Colorado event.
Be glad to add you to the list. I'm filling in holes from cancellations, so you'll be towards the beginning of the list.
Looking forward to the cruise.

SSR's have Mirrors? I thought you just wanted to race!! TW
Hello guys:I remember when Tom first told that story about winning the trophy
in Penticton.OH,Tom,BTW,you running into Ray or Ray chasing you down whatever was divine intervention,no chance happening there,it was meant to be! Yep,good old synchronicity! I too, remember our first SSR get together(Event) at the Tacoma Yacht Club,I gave a shout out to any and all PACNW Fanatics and Sue(tickledpink) said hello and yes, then,Bill(willie)says
yes and sponsors the TYC,what a great first time PACNW SSR Event! It's true, the friendships just add to the priceless nature of these fun ssr fanatic events don't they!! Look forward to seeing you Tom & Karen, this June.
What do ya think,Lk. Chelan in the cards for September maybe?! I think it's time to reclaim her beautiful scenery!

SSR Chelan Fall Trip
It's always a possiblity. There are 14 wineries around Lake Chelan now and it starting to feel a little more like Walla Walla. It might be time for a tour around the Wenatchee Valley as part of our Chelan trip. I can think of 3 or 4 great places for a drive, such as up to the cherry district of Stemilt or Wenatchee Heights near Mission Ridge, maybe Crescent Br on the Columbia River about 15 miles south of Wenatchee towards Quincy, plus there are several new wineries in the Wenatchee area as well.
Possible Alternative?
I know it's a long ways to drive, but Walla Walla would also be a great place to tour to. If folks from the west side went straight to the Tri-cities, it's only 45 more minutes to Walla Walla. If any of your SSR foks have never been there, it has great scenery! Lots of shade trees, old neighborhoods with 2 and 3 story 1920's homes and over 75 wineries. Even the trip up the Walla Walla River from Tri-Cities is made for the SSR, a winding road along the river. Also, the drive through the Lower Yakima Valley is a scenic tour as well. Just might be worth the extra travel. If there are no SSR members who live near there, or in the Tri-Cities, I would be glad to work on organizing a tour for that area. Food for thought.
My SSR: Silver with Pink Ghost Flames, Pink Lettering & Flares with PINK Bow Ties on Rims!
Can't remain speechless when it comes to our NW SSR events......
FYI, We do have an active planning team dreaming up some other fun runs for the Northwest Group - Columbia River Run with wine tasting in the Yakima valley; An evening featured at Evergreen Speedway with a cruise to Mt. Baker the next day; exploration of the North Cascades Hiway, Winthrop and the Methow Valley - maybe even a float trip !!; Day trip around La Conner and Whidbey Island; weekend with Doug & Joanne Young on Vancouver Island - - - - - - STAY TUNED.. I'm still getting my Christmas decorations put away and packing for PENTICTON !!!!
Virginia and I have registered for the weekend but ...............may not be bringing the but another collector car, we have a group confirmed of eight cars coming to the Peach City Beach Cruise from Prince George, expect another 7 or so to join us.
Hope you let Virginia and I visit and hang out with the group.

We can talk about it at the PCBC!!! TW
Sounds great Tom:we'll talk it up over a cool one in the Pub Eh!
41chevcoe:You are welcome any where anytime in our circle, great car enthusiasts like you and Virginia,I know you were jesting, see ya in June 2010
It'll be a very scenic Road Trip 4 2 and beautiful destination.
You're in the #15 spot on the list - had to kick George and Virginia (George is the smiling face in post #136) off the list. We really love them, but they're coming with a 32 Ford instead of their SSR.
We'll still let them come over and visit.

had indicated they were planning on coming to Penticton, but have not yet confirmed.
Looks like we could have a fairly large convoy to Colorado.
Still time to combine the two events into a Fanatic holiday.
At this time we are doing both Peach City & Colorado, but are planning on visiting some old friends in WA. & UT instead of caravnning between the two events. Sorry but still can't be in two places at the same time.

Anyone interested in the Dinner Train on Sunday afternoon???
I think the Dinner Train Sunday afternoon is a must for those of us (myself included - and I am a serious Steam Train buff!) who haven't had the pleasure of riding the famous Kettle Valley steam train through the beautiful valley from Summerland !! Dinner is included - Prices can be found in Ray's information.
I wasn't able to go two years ago, and having just watched the films from Northwest Steam Excursions, I invite all of you to join in as well !!
