I wasn't able to go two years ago, and having just watched the films from Northwest Steam Excursions, I invite all of you to join in as well !!

You know I want to do this. I could not find the info without reading the whole thread so I will ask "do I have to sign up before I get there?"

Just got to Vancouver - returning from 10 days on Oahu and Maui. The weather was better there.
I had called the Kettle Valley office last summer before they published their schedule, trying to get them to do a Great Train Robber/Barbecue on Sunday the 27th.
Unfortunately, because everyone in the Garnet Valley Gang is a volunteer, the schedule didn't work out.
They will have their regular afternoon train running Sunday at 1:30 PM, but not with the BBQ/Robbery. The ride is about 90 minutes.
If there's enough interest, we could start a separate sign-up thread. Cost is $21/person. A group reservation with 20 or more will bring it down to $18/person.
I also checked about a chartered run, but the cost was prohibitive - $2750 plus the cost of chartering the Garnet Valley Gang, IF they were available, plus the cost of the catered BBQ - we'd have to have at least 125 people to make that work out.

Who needs a Train Robbery????
The Kettle Valley RR has a great little steam engine - Several young men restored the entire locomotive and the rest is run by volunteers........ Sounds like a blast if we could figure out how to "Climb Aboard" !!

Sue - speaking for Dwight too
I'm in as long as we can get there. Since I do not know the geography I will trust and say sign me up when ever you make the list.

The Kettle Valley station is about 20 minutes north of Penticton. I will escort you from a meeting point in Penticton, probably the lawn of Rotary Park, to the station. Getting you there will be easy.
Quite a few Fanatics have taken the train in past years. Fairly short run, but a blast to be on a steam train. The trestle the train stops on was an engineering marvel when it was built.
I'll start a separate thread in the National section for sign up.

Good Fun and GREAT FOOD...
at the Hooded Merganser - on the Lake dining right at our Resort Hotel !!!
That gets my vote for sure - So many of us enjoyed the ambience and menu selection soooooo much, our group dined there two times and would have gone again had there been one more day in our agenda !!!!!
Not cheap, but worth the money to have such a grand evening together!!
My SSR: goodies by mike in az, lyndon wester, greg ducato, & sinister.
dinner on sunday in the hood, sounds like a good idea sue!
maybe we can get a few more people to come too.
ps . some of us fanatics had supper with ray last nite , he is here on business. very enjoyable time.
we'd have dinner too but only if it's late afternoon. We gotta drive home that night - 3 hr's
Planning Sunday night dinner for 6 PM - have a tentative reservation at the Hooded Merganser for the group.
We only less than 2 weeks left on our group reservation for the Lakeside. The motels in town are filling up quickly, so anyone else planning to stay at the Lakeside should book soon.

Dinner at the Hooded Merganser !!!
Ray,
Thanks for all the leg work and organization for this event !! Great move to reserve at the Hooded Merganser - best memories of wonderful group dining from past years !!!
Our group reservation at the Lakeside has now ended. The Lakeside is back to regular rates, but when I checked with them, they had sold out all their rooms. Links to other motels/hotels in the area on the first post.
Still lots of Fanatics who have indicated they plan to come who have not registered or even confirmed they are still coming.
Time to remove your posteriors from the fence upon which you have been firmly perched and start making plans to join us.
Hate to see you miss a great party.

My SSR: 2004 Ultra Violet completely stock ... for now !!
Due to Tracie's work being unbelievably busy, she cannot take any extra time off, she's been working overtime, trying to catch up, so looks like we are not going to be able to attend this years show but we'll see about next year. We were REALLY looking forward to meeting everyone.
